Building Bridges of Understanding since 1887
Keeping Yeshua at the Center

The "Star-Fish" story is as simple as the design, which is comprised of two interconnecting symbols.
The
Star: In the background is the Star of David, the symbol representing
the Jewish framework of our faith. Our faith is formed in a Jewish context (the
Scriptures were written by Jewish people, excepting Dr. Luke, and Yeshua was of
course Jewish), and we are committed to the biblical priority "to the Jew
first."
The Fish: Intertwined with the star is the fish, which is the symbol early believers used as a shorthand reference for Yeshua:

Iesous (Jesus; Yeshua in Hebrew) ![]()
Christos (Christ; Mashiach in Hebrew) ![]()
Theos (God) ![]()
Uios (Son) ![]()
Soter (Savior)
The first letters spell out ichthys, the Greek word for "fish," and thus the symbol. Yeshua is the central figure of our faith, and is worshiped as God's only-begotten Son, the promised Messiah and Savior of mankind. Thus the fish is at the center of the logo. When someone asks for an explanation of the symbol, we have an open opportunity to explain the significance and centrality of Yeshua to our faith: he is the Jewish Messiah, and as the unique and perfect Son of God he is able to provide the salvation we need. Indeed, his very name - Yeshua - speaks of salvation: "You shall call his name Jesus (Yeshua means "Jehovah saves") for he will save his people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21)
The "Star-Fish" symbol enjoys the protection of a registered trademark as AMFI's official logo and should not be used without permission. However, many who like what the symbol represents have asked if we had any jewelry available for use as a witnessing tool. We are happy to say that we now do.
We desire to build bridges of understanding between Jewish and Christian communities, recognizing the wonderful truth that Messiah has made "of the two one new man." Since 1887 we have enjoyed God's blessing by keeping Yeshua at the center. If you desire to wear our logo to help tell His story, pendants, lapel pins, and tie-tacks are available for US $10.00 each, plus shipping/handling ($1.50 for orders shipped within the U.S., $2.00 outside; we do not accept credit cards).
