Q: Why do you care whether Jewish people believe in Jesus?
A: Our faith is centered on the Jew Yeshua (Jesus), whom we believe to be the Jewish Messiah. He himself claimed he was called to "the lost sheep of Israel" (Mark 15:24)
The Hebrew prophet John the Baptist called Yeshua "the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." (John 1:29) Yeshua believed that he had come to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45) and that whoever would trust in him would be saved for eternal life in the World to Come. (John 3:16, John 11:26) He instructed his followers to proclaim this good news to everyone. (Mark 16:15)
The New Testament tells us that this Good News (the literal meaning of the word "gospel") is "for the Jew first" (Romans 1:16). The apostle Paul, himself a Jew with a firm background in the Torah, (Romans 11:1) claimed "My heart’s desire for Israel is that they should be saved." (Romans 10:1)
Christian love should extend to all people, regardless of the likelihood that they will ever share our faith. Acts of compassion and friendship should not be used as "bait" but done as unto the Lord. At the same time, love means wanting the best for others. Since we believe that trusting in Yeshua is the way to eternal life and perfect communion with God the Father, love must also compel us to share this news with others.
You are welcome to peruse our website to understand why we believe as we do. Of course, you are also welcome to write to us.
